ViziLite® Plus is a simple screening system that was developed to help oral healthcare professionals identify and evaluate abnormalities in your mouth. These may include suspicious oral lesions, precancerous cells and cancer, that may be difficult to see during a regular visual exam.

How does ViziLite work?
ViziLite Plus technology assists your dental professional in seeing abnormal tissue in the mouth, before it is plainly obvious. As ViziLite Plus passes over oral tissue that has been treated with the rinse solution, normal healthy tissue will absorb the light and appear dark, abnormal tissue will appear white.

What is a pre diagnostic mucosal test?
D0431 – This is an adjunctive pre-diagnostic test that assists with the detection of mucosal abnormalities, including premalignant and malignant lesions. It does not include cytology or biopsy procedures. Keep in mind that D0431 is a pre-diagnostic test and not the actual biopsy procedure.
Does VELscope really work?
Based on the use of surgical biopsy, the machine had a sensitivity of 74.1% and a specificity of 96.3%. According to the statistical analysis, the P value was much lower than 0.05, so we can conclude that at 95% confidence level, there was significant agreement between VELscope results and biopsy results.
How accurate is VELscope?
VELscope examination alone showed a sensitivity of 30 % and a specificity of 63 %. Its accuracy at identifying dysplasia was 55 %. The authors concluded that VELscope examination cannot provide a definitive diagnosis regarding the presence of epithelial dysplasia.

How do I install the lens covers on the vizilite PRO device?
The lens covers are installed by inserting the three small tabs into the three openings on the retaining ring. One lens cover should be installed prior to the examination and discarded after use. The ViziLite PRO device is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
